Description: Registration - Massed Community Choir

    Hello Singing Friends,

We are recruiting to form a special one-off community choir, to perform in the Butterworth Hall at the Warwick Arts Centre on the 25th May 2024.

2024 is a special year for Sing it Loud, as we celebrate our 10th Birthday! We are going to celebrate this in style, and we’d love for your voices to be a part of our birthday party. More details are here

The whole concert will be accompanied by the Coventry City of Culture Orchestra, and we are assembling a Massed Community Choir of nearly 300 singers, which is where you come in!

For a walk-through of how to register, please visit youtube here. You can register either individually using this webpage, or a small group of people from by following the instructions, but if you are wanting to register a larger group (e.g. a whole choir) then please contact singitloudchoir@gmail.com with the subject line "Massed choir" to save entering the details of each member one by one.

Why we are looking for choirs and singers to join us?

We’ll be hosting a 10th Anniversary Concert at the Warwick Arts Centre on Saturday 25th May 2024, and as well as celebrating our birthday, we want to celebrate the wonderful thing that is Community Choirs! To do this, we’d like to form a one-off Massed Community Choir which will perform 2-3 times in each half of the concert.

We haven't finalised the repertoire yet, but know that we like to sing a little bit of everything - from Bach to Clean Bandit! Some highlights of the Massed Chorus repertoire (updated October 2023):
    1. Total Praise! (Richard Smallwood)
    2. Africa (Toto)
    3. Adiemus (Jenkins)
    4. O Fortuna (from Carmina Burana - Orff)
    5. Easter Hymn (from Cavelleria Rusticana - Mascagni)
    6. Somewhere (from West Side Story - Bernstein)

Part learning will be done at home with digital guide tracks which will be provided ahead of the first rehearsal. Rehearsals will then take place with Sing it Loud and the Massed Community Choir. There will be three choir-only rehearsals, and one rehearsal with the orchestra. The first choir rehearsal will include sectional rehearsals, supported by our fantastic vocal coaches:

    • 23rd March (Saturday) | 2:00-5:00pm, Coventry Central Hall (CV1 2HA) // with Vocal Coaches
    • 12th April (Friday) | 7:00-10:00pm, Coventry Central Hall (CV1 2HA)
    • 28th April (Sunday) | 2:00-5:00pm, Coventry Central Hall (CV1 2HA)
    • 16th May (Thursday) | 7:00-10pm, Coventry Central Hall (CV1 2HA) // with Orchestra
    • 25th May (Saturday / CONCERT DAY) | 2:45-4:45, Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre // Complete Ensemble

The cost to join is £30. This covers digital guide tracks for learning your parts at home, rehearsal costs, music copying licence, a music booklet, and entrance to the event itself at the Warwick Arts Centre. Please note that you must be over 18 on 1st March 2024 to take part.

There will also be a sound check during the afternoon of the concert at the Warwick Arts Centre.

The deadline for joining our massed community choir is: March 1st 2024
